Meet the Balter family
Maui Mini Session is photographed by Laurence, Jude, Max, and Solomon Balter—the same family behind Wailea Photo.
Our family made Maui home more than a quarter century ago. Since then, we have photographed families, couples, and weddings throughout Wailea, Makena, and South Maui.
Laurence Balter
Laurence is a professional photographer and founder of Wailea Photo. He writes the parent studio’s Maui Atlas, sharing field knowledge developed through years of photographing Maui’s light, weather, and shoreline.
Jude Balter
Jude photographs alongside Laurence as part of the family studio and brings the same calm, people-first approach to portrait sessions.
Max Balter
Max is one of the Balter family photographers and photographs Maui Mini and Wailea Photo sessions personally.
Solomon Balter
Solomon is one of the Balter family photographers and photographs Maui Mini and Wailea Photo sessions personally.
What family-operated means here
Your booking stays with our family. We do not operate as a marketplace and we do not send an unfamiliar third-party photographer in our place. This continuity matters: the style, direction, editing, and expectations you see before booking are connected to the people who create the photographs.

Maui Mini Session is the concise experience: 20 minutes, 25+ photographs, and simple pricing from $299. Wailea Photo is our parent studio for longer family stories, couples, proposals, maternity, weddings, and larger groups.
